To Parents, Families, and Guardians of Titan Cadets

On behalf of Titan NJROTC, I would like to thank you all for supporting your cadet’s participation in the Titan NJROTC Program for the 2021-2022 school year. My reason for reaching out to you is threefold. First, to introduce myself since I am new to TBT and the Titan NJROTC Program. Secondly, to update you on your cadets’ accomplishments this past semester. And lastly, to invite you to come out to support your cadets at future Titan NJROTC events.

While you likely know our longtime instructors, Sergeant Major Hall and Chief Robinson, I joined the TBT team in late August after retiring from the Marine Corps. I served on active duty for 28 years as both an enlisted infantryman and an artillery officer, with my final tour at the US Naval Academy. I had the privilege of serving with Sergeant Major Hall over 20 years ago and is why I joined the TBT team.

Your cadets have been extremely busy this past semester. They competed in multiple academic challenges (Brain Brawls), two major field meets, provided Color Guard and security support to every TBT home football game, ran a “Toys for Tots” distribution site to help those in need during the holidays, provided a Color Guard to various highly visible events throughout the local community, to include a Veteran’s Day event hosted by Senator Marco Rubio, Lightning games, and the Gasparilla Bowl, and our 17th Annual “Battle of the Titans” Field Meet here on the TBT campus. Your cadet’s participation in these events would not have been possible without your support, so Thank You!

One of our upcoming events include restarting our marksmanship program, and a Military Ball (formal dinner event) on 9 April at the Westshore Grand. We have 18 high schools from across the state who will compete in multiple JROTC events, to include Academics, Personnel Inspections, Close Order Drill, and Physical Training (PT). With each upcoming event there is an opportunity for parents and family members to attend and/or volunteer to assist.

Parents and family members can really help make our future events a success. If you have the time and/or interest, I highly encourage you to volunteer and support your cadets. Supporting the program with your time and talent not only provides opportunities for cadets to develop skills that will transfer to adult life, but will allow you to get to know the instructors, other cadets and their families, observe other JROTC units, and give back to the community. If you are interested in supporting a future event, please contact any one of us by phone or email; our contact information is in the "Instructors" tab. I also encourage you to share our new Titan NJROTC website, designed and developed by our very own Communications Officer, at Njrotc | Titan Navy | Tampa (njrotctbt.wixsite.com).

Thank you again for your tremendous support. We look forward to meeting and working with you in the years to come!

Semper Fidelis,

LtCol Scott Weis, USMC (Ret.)
